Impressive... most impressive September 17, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I can only comment on the single player mode of this game so far (knew I should have ordered a 2nd nunchuck much sooner), but I'm liking it a lot. You start off slaughtering wookies as Vader with every force ability you could ever dream of at your command. This means that yes you can grab a laser cannon using the nunchuck and have it continue firing under your control while slashing through enemies, and when you're bored with that you can choke a wookie too, then just for good measure hold another one in mid air and throw your saber into him like a spear impaling him. Great cinematics draw you further into the story bit by bit until you take command of Vader's young apprentice, who possesses all the general capabilities as Vader, but slightly altered - force lightning instead of choking..
Everything just works in this game. The Wii control system is complicated, but in a good way. At first you are trying to remember how to do the various moves, but it comes naturally after a while. The bosses are not all duels, but they are all epic so far, like fighting an AT-ST for instance. One nice feature, at a certain point when your victory is certain, the action changes to some basic gestures with the Wii mote as you watch a nice combo cinematic/finishing move. As always with Lucasarts the music and sounds are amazing. They really do a nice job in this game bridging the gap between the two trilogies.
This game will be a classic on the Wii.
A great game! September 26, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This game is very exciting. You can upgrade force powers and change the power of your lightsaber and lightning force. Also, it is exciting to reflect attacks!
This is a force blast! September 18, 2008 I'm not that far into it, but overall. This game is amazing! Super b.a. force powers, cool gameplay, good story line, customizable characters, great physics on this game, cool combos. I've never been a very good "duel" player on any game so that isn't really my cup of tea, but it looks cool. Overall A+, it lived up to my expectations that made me pre-order it. Well done LucasArts!
Amazing December 16, 2008 I don't understand why this game has achieved such a low rating. By the way, true gamers would know that 1-Up.com is a truly idiotic company, that is why no one ever heard of them until Amazon added their ratings. Anyway, the graphics really are sub-par. You can see that they could be so much better but that Lucas Arts just got lazy. Though the graphics are less than satisfactory, I quickly forgot as the gameplay is amazing. The controls are responsive and accurate and each level offers something different. In general you could say that each level is running around throwing Stormtroopers, but it really isn't. The environment is a large factor in combat, if you want to take out a guy behind a corner, you can pick up pretty much anything and take aim to get rid of him. Some enemies resist the force, others melee. This creates a great balance of fighting style. This balance removes the often seen style of spending half the level slashing, the other half using the Force (or magic or ranged combat). Overall, I think that people should stop whining about the graphics and actually play the game because it really is great.
Great Star Wars fun for the Wii December 29, 2008 Star Wars The Force Unleashed for the Wii is an awesome experience heightened by the fact that you control the light saber action with the wii-mote. In addition to the Wii version, I also have the PS3 version, but are they the same? As a matter of fact they're not.Yes the story is the same, however the Wii has some caveats that the Xbox360/PS3 does not yet have (duel mode,Jedi Temple level(just released as dlc on PS3/Xbox360) ). The graphics are good for the Wii,however are not as impressive compared to the PS3/Xbox360 verions. The bottom line is this game is fun.I actually find the controls on the Wii to be more responsive than on the other consoles. The only complaint I have is that the camera is more difficult to control for this version.Otherwise, it is an AWESOME GAME!!! Great Story too!!
